Pod Squad: Rising Up Against Islamophobia

A film and arts festival that begins later this week at the Honolulu Museum of Art seeks to teach people about Islam.

By April Estrellon /

Pod Squad host Chad Blair is joined by Taylour Chang, theater director of the Doris Duke Theater, Civil Beat events manager Mariko Chang and Syrian violinist Mariela Shaker to talk about The Seventh Art Stand, a nationwide screening and discussion series billed as “an act of cinematic solidarity against Islamophobia.”

Spoiler alert: you can hear a preview of Mariela Shaker’s “Sea Waves” at about the 11-minute mark.
