His senior year in high school in St. Louis, Missouri, Chris D’Angelo had life all planned out: college just down the road at the University of Missouri, a dorm room with his school buddies, then back home to the bosom of the family. But then the memories of a childhood fishing trip with his uncle to the wilds of Montana intruded.

In this podcast from the Hawaii Storytellers’ event, “Should I Stay Or Should I Go? Stories About Making Big Decisions And Living With The Consequences,” D’Angelo, now an associate editor at HuffPost Hawaii, tells how a sudden decision not to go down his well-planned path has led him through a cascade of life-changing decisions and adventures, from logging towns in Idaho, to the wilds of southern Brazil, to the chicken-filled byways of Kauai.
