Gov. David Ige vetoed eight bills this year. He had put nine bills on his annual intent-to-veto list

A comparison of the vetoes in the first two legislative sessions of the past three governors showed former Gov. Linda Lingle to have the mightiest veto pen in her early years as Hawaii’s chief executive. That includes vetoes that were overridden.

Much of that could have been because she was a Republican governor with a Democrat-controlled Legislature.
