Pod Squad: Rep. Chris Lee Explains Why He’s Against the NextEra Deal

By April Estrellon /

Hawaii Rep. Chris Lee is the chair of the House Energy and Environmental Protection Committee and one of the state’s most vocal advocates for a clean-energy future that’s powered by 100 percent renewable energy. So he’s not so sure whether the proposed $4.3 billion merger between Hawaiian Electric and NextEra Energy is the right fit for the state and has been voicing his concern and, so far at least, opposition.

Lee joins Pod Squad host Chad Blair and reporter Nathan Eagle, who has been covering the proposed merger, to explain more about what he’s thinking.
